UNIFORMS AND ENSIGNS

Frontiersmen Hosts At Eighth Annual Ball Ensigns of various colonies and dependencies within the Empire formed a background of military brilliance for the many uniforms “on parade” at the eighth annual ball of 12 Squadron, Legion of Frontiersmen, in St. Francis Hall, last night. Highland dress, the gold and blue of the navy and the light blue of air force uniforms mingled with the scarlet coats of the military and the distinctive navy dress of the frontiersmen themselves. who naturally predominated. their silver chained epaulettes shining under the bright lights of the ballroom. The flags gave a tent-like appearance to the hall, being draped from the ceiling toward the walls, where more flags, including the Union Jack and the White Ensign were unfurled in a brave array. Two Red Ensigns and a Union Jack draped the entrance to the official alcove and all the way up the stairs large flags were impressively draped. Scarlet and white, the legion colours decorated the supper-room, bowls of narcissi giving a .gay touch to the tables. A novelty monte carlo dance in which elimination was secured with signature Initials of the dancers, caused amusement. Exhibitions of ballroom dancing were given by Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, and Miss Dorothy Daniels gave a Spanish character dance. The legion band supplied spirited music for extras.
