Clifford Estate Leads Owners The Awapuni horseman, W. J. Broughton,‘‘added one to his total of winning rides for the last season at Awapuni on Saturday, and his total ot SO is 1.0 in front of H. Wiggins. Broughton previously held the premiership two seasons ago, was the runner-up in 1930, third m 1934, and fourth last year. His best season was in 1935, when he rode 8;> winners to finish second to L. J. Ellis. T. R. George, of Trentham. is once more the leading trainer, and he has occupied this position on eight occasions in the hint 10 seasons. In this period has been responsible tor preparing 3winners. , , The leading South Island horseman A. E. Ellis, whose total of 43 wins is very creditable in the face of his restricted opportunities due to his weight.
