General Franco and his Ministers I had a conference at Burgos con- ! cerning not only the troubles whicn ; led to the downfall of four of the : nationalist wartime leaders but also ! the economic situation which has ' given rise to political tension. ; It is believed that there are i 1.250.000 unemployed in Spain. ; The Minister of the Interior, Senor Suncr, is urging General Franco to adopt a full Fascist policy and holds that he can deal with discontent bv repression of former republicans and imposing a check on monarchists. GRIEVANCE ENDED Disputed Spanish Gold LONDON, July 28. The Buris correspondent of “The Times” states that £8,500,000 in Spanish gold was handed over to Franco Administration officials, ending one of General Franco’s major grievances against France. No provision has been made tor settling the heavy expenses which France has incurred in maintaining Spanish refugees. The Government is inclined to write off the whole amount as trivial when so much is being spent on armaments.
