Wilson—Vallance
The marriage took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, recently, of Beverley Aline, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Vallance, “Kahumingi,” Masterton, and Quinton, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Hamish Wilson, Bulls. The Rev. E. J. Rich officiated and Mr. Miller Hope played the organ. The church was beautifully decorated with masses of hydrangeas and pink camellias. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a charming pearl satin gown, cut on slim-fitting lines, trimmed with satin leaves embossed with silver, and with a beautiful circular veil. She carried a sheaf of white lilies.
The five bridesmaids wore frocks of rose geranium velvet, in period style, with full skirts and high-cut sleeves. They carried, bouquets to tone and wore sprays of flowers in their hair. They were Mrs. Harold McKenzie, matron of honour, and Misses Levin (Feilding), Mary Vallance (Masterton), Wilson (Raugitikei) sister of the bridegroom, and Mary Maumsell (Masterton). The best man was. Mr. Hamish Wilson, and Messrs. Dau Ormond (Hawke’S Bay), Jock McKenzie (Hawke’s Bay), Dau Vallance and Norman Parsons (Rangitikei) acted as groomsman. Mr. D. Herrick was usher at the church. Mrs. Skeet was responsible for the church decorations. The reception was held at Kahumingi,” where the 400 guests were received by Mrs. F. B. Vallance, wearing a gown of deep red velvet, and fur, with a beige hat and posy to tone. She was assisted by Mrs. H. Wilson, who was in a black ensemble with hat to match. The wedding of Joan Stuart, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Sebierning, Karori, Wellington, and Harry Dalton, sceond son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Yates, Te Horo, took place recently at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wellington. The Rev. A. Salmond, Karori, officiated. The bride was escorted by her father, and she wore a beautiful frock of embossed silver lame simply cut, with a square neckline and trained skirt. Her short veil of white tulle was held in place with a cluster of lilies, and her bouquet was of white cyclamen, chrysanthemums and carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Alison Poole and Miss Fanny Yates (Te Horo). They wore frocks of geranium red velvet, and a large red velvet flower was worn on their hair. They carried bouquets of red sweet peas, and their only ornament was pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. The contrast in colour to the bride’s frock was most effective. , , Mr. J. Schierning was best man; Mr. R. Yates was groomsman. During the signing of the register Miss' Joyce Myers sang the “Promise of Life. After the service a reception was held at the Empire Hotel, where Mr. and Mrs. Schierning entertained a large number of relations and friends. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a claret velvet frock with shoulder spray and hat to tone, ana was assisted by the bridegroom s mother, wearing a blue embossed velvet ensemble with spray and hat of the same colour. The bride’s two grandmothers were also present, Kirs. J. Schierning, Napier, wearing a black ensemble, and Mrs. E. Nicol, Wellington, in a black floral frock and black C °Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Yates left later by the Awatea for Sydney where the honeymoon. will be spent. The bride travelled in a navy frock and swagger coat with hat to match and navy accessories. Their future home will be in Wellington.
