FREE CARRIAGE BY RAIL

Exhibits For Education Court z

DEPOT IN NEWTOWN SCHOOL

Head teachers of primary schools have received advice from their respective education boards that selection committees are being set up in the various centres in which board offices are located and will make a selection of primary school exhibits to be displayed at "the Centennial Exhibition. It has been arranged that the Railways Department will provide free carriage by rail for exhibits consigned to the towns in which the education board offices are situated. To obtain this concession, all exhibits must be declared on the consignment note as “exhibits for New Zealand Centennial Exhibition purposes.” No exhibits are to be sent to the education offices before July 15, as stationmasters have been notified by the Railways Department that such' exhibits may be expected on or after that date. Exhibits from secondary and technical schools are to be sent direct to Wellington at the beginning of August, and it is hoped that all will be received by August 15. Final Seiectiou.

A final selection committee will be set up in Wellington, to deal with the large number of exhibits expected. Through the courtesy of the Wellington Education Board and the committee of the Newtown School, a depot for education exhibits is being established in a disused portion of the old school. All exhibits should be addressed: “The Secretary, Education Exhibition Committee, Public School, Newtown, Wellington.” No special label need be used. The previous decision to use special labels has been countermanded as the Railways Department considered that exhibits would be liable to be delivered at the Education Court at Rongotal instead of at the depot in Newtown, where all unpacking and recasing will be done.
