HITLER’S POSITION IN WORLD EVENTS
“Answer to Hitler” by Evan John (Lon 1 don: Nicholson and Watson).
This is an attempt to state the position of Herr Hitler in relation to world events, rather thaii to answer his “Mein Kampf.” It is a small book written so that the ordinary man, the man-in-tbe-street may be able the 'better to under-' stand the man, Hitler. The author tries hard to be fair. He appreciates that Hitler is a man of rare capacity and “Mein Kampf” is a brilliant work. “Able And interesting” is the author’s description of the boo_k. He shows Hitler ns an intense materialist without any moral character, using the word moral in its most catholic sense. Hitler knows the virtues and weaknesses of trade-unionism and knows flow to overcome the power of organized unionism. In analysing the book the author reveals the complete indifference of Hitler to logic. 'He also shows, and very clearly, Hitler’s passionate belief in race distinction. One understands that the return of the African colonies to Germany would merely revive the worst aspects of slavery for the natives there. Nothing else could be inferred from Hitler's racedistinction opinion. Hitler’s metamorphosis from a decent young Austrian worker to a ruthless tyrant, the author thinks, makes it impossible any more to rely on his word in any important respect. This small book is informative and disturbing for one’s peace of mind, and perhaps, that is all to the good. One must not shut one’s eyes,to the realities of a great danger.
