‘Death at Half-Term,” by Josephine Bell (London: Longmans).
To say that Miss Josephine Bell has written better detective stories than "Death at Half-Term" is not to condemn it, for she fiever falls to be entertaining, and, with characters Of individuality, her i. Av book merits a place in the highest class Of this type of fiction. The murder is committed during a half-term performance of “Twelfth Night,” given by a company of professional actors, the victim being the Sir Toby. The next couple of days are devoted to solving the problem, the principal investigators being Inspector Mitchell and the amateur Dr. Wintringham, chief honours going to Scotland Yard. Actually, once a difllculty Concerning the time of the assault is over come, the reader should be able to pick the murderer.
