SAFETY IN MINES
N.S.W. Recommendations SYDNEY, June 20. Far-reaching recommendations involving a large expenditure are made in the report of the Royal Commission on safety and health in coal mines. These* include tlie compulsory use of electric safety lamps, and the prohibition of naked lights and of smoking and of the carrying of matches in mines. The establishment of this commission in New South Males to consider mine safety measures was part of the settlement terms arrived at. in tlie Australian coal-mining strike last year.
