Arrangements have now been made to hold training courses in ski mountaineering during September on the Godlev Glacier. These courses have been organized by the ski-mountaineer-ing section of the New Zealand Alpine Club, which has its headquarters in Christchurch. The services of a fullyqualified Austrian instructor have been obtained, and it is expected that the courses will prove a great success. No similar courses have ever been held in New Zealand. Besides ski-ing, parties will make ascents of the surrounding peaks as weather conditions allow, thus learning the rudiments of mountain climbing. The Godley Glacier drains into Lake Tekapo.
