HOTEL BOOKINGS
Accommodation During Exhibition Period * y A well-organized effort is being made to extend as far as possible the means of accommodating all those who may wish to visit Wellington during exhibition time or in the year of the centenary. From inquiries made yesterday it was gathered that the betterclass hotels will be hard put to it to cater for those who require first-class accommodation during their stay in Wellington. So far the applications for accommodation have been pretty well restricted to the A class hotels. In-one instance the proprietor stated that his definite bookings for centennial year began last year and that, at the present time, he had made many definite bookings for rooms and suites of rooms on behalf of people coming from overseas. In some instances bookings already made have been arranged on behalf of delegates who intend to take part in conferences to be held in Wellington during the first six months of the centennial year. In the case of another A class hotel, the reply was to the effect that several bookings had already been made, and there were inquiries about others. There was little doubt that, if nothing occurred to disturb the world seriously, the coming winter would see a good deal of the accommodation for next summer taken up to an appreciable degree on behalf of people coming from abroad. In the case of the B class hotels it was ascertained that there had been an occasional booking and several inquiries; but so far the definite bookings for the exhibition period had not beejj many.
