Following is the weather report ami forecast for winds and seas issued by the Meteorological Office, AVellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today:— General situation: Pressure is still relatively high to the north, and a shallow westerly depression lias been crossing the South. Island. This latter is being followed by a secondary. Forecast: — Winds: North-west to south-west prevailing; moderate mainly, but strong at times in exposed positions, specially about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas (New Zealand waters) : Rough in Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough at times on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: West to southwest winds predominating, moderate mainly with slight to moderate seas, but freshening at times in southern portions with rather rough seas. (General forecast appears above leading article.) YESTERDAY’S WEATHER AVellington: Fine, with a strong north wind, which occasionally reached gale force; temperatures mild. Minimum temperature during Thursday night, 54.8 deg. Maximum yesterday, 65.5 deg At 3.30 p.m., the temperature was 61.8 deg. and the barometer read 29.882111. Palmerston. North: Overcast and threatening, with a light, misty rain in tlie early morning, but the reniaiuder of the day was fine.
