Due At Wellington On Saturday SEVERAL NEW RECORDS The following wireless message was received yesterday from “The Dominion’s” special representative aboard the motor-liner Dominion Monarch, which is due at Wellington next Saturday on her maiden voyage from London and Southampton, giving particulars of records the ship has already established. “The maiden voyage schedule is belug maintained with the greatest ease by the Dominion Monarch. The great ship arrived at Melbourne on Sunday morning, 29 days, 3 hours, 59 minutes from Southampton, 'the actual steaming time being 27 days, 3 hours, 42 minutes for the total distance of 12,705 miles. The average speed was 19.5 knots or 467.9 miles a day. The record passage from Durban to Fremantle, 4244 miles, was made in 8 days, 21 hours, 54 minutes at an average speed of 19.84 knots or 476.3 miles a day. “The largest merchant ship that has ever entered Fremantle, the Dominion Monarch attracted the greatest interest. The record passage from Southampton to Fremantle was made in 26 days, 16 hours, 45 minutes, the total steaming time for the 11,055 miles being 23 days, 17 hours, 22 minutes at an average of 19.42 knots or 466.1 miles a day. The passage from Fremantle to Melbourne, 1650 miles, was made iu 3 days, 10 hours, 20 minutes, the average speed being 20.95 knots or 480.9 miles a day. A heavy southerly swell was encountered across the Australian Bight but the ship behaved splendidly throughout. Thousands witnessed her arrival at Port Melbourne.

“The Tasman Sea was in kindly mood when the Dominion Monarch entered it early this morning, making a fast passage from Melbourne to Sydney. With pleasantly warm weather and a perfectly smooth sea, the passengers enjoyed deck games and bathing in the swimming pool. With the engines working at reduced power the liner averaged 20 knots aud is expected to arrive at Sydney at 6 o’clock tomorrow morning. She will depart at 10 o’clock tomorrow night for Wellington.”
