DETERIORATED LAND

Problem “Like A Bit Of

Tough Beef” Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON, March 20. "A truly awful business” was the description given to the question of deteriorated farmlands at a meeting of the Wairarapa provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union today. The president, Air. 1-1. Morrison, explained that, in the Wairarapa the position was economic because with costs and prices for their produce as they were farmers could not keep their land cleared. The other day he saw a flock of beautiful ewes, but he knew the country ,oft which they came would have to be abandoned within a decade because of costs. The position was very serious. “I endorse what Air. Alorrison has said.” said Mr. L. T. Daniell. “They say in Queen Street that Air. Morrison is a pessimist, but he is only telling you the truth.”

After drawing attention to the vastness of deteriorated land in New’ Zealand. Air. Daniell said the problem was like a bit of tough beef —-the more one chewed it the worse it got.
