A new police van is now being used in Auckland to transport prisoners between the prison and the Magistrates’ Court. It is painted bright green and conforms to modern designs iu streamlining. The plain sides of former vans have been discarded in favour of frosted glass panels and ventilation vents which illuminate and refresh the interior. Seating accommodation for 12 is provided in tiie rear compartment, which is separate from tbe driver’s seat, and prisoners enter and leave the van through rear doors, which lock outside.
