Second Last Series

ISSUE IN MOST GRADES STILL IN DOUBT The second last series of Mercantile Cricket League matches on Saturday virtually decided the C and G grades, in which, with one game to go, Excelsior and City Council are in almost unassailable positions. All other grades are still open. Amalgamated Bricks have a lead of two points in the A grade from Taubmans. In the B grade Justice Department are one point ahead of U.D.M. H.M.V. are two points ahead of Shipping in the D grade. The E and F grades are also evenly contested and will depend on the results of the next and final series of matches. A feature of Saturday’s games was a double century by It. W. Richards, captain of Customs Department in the E grade. His 208 was compiled iu 100 minutes and included 16 sixes and 22 fours. Results At A Glance Following were the results of the A grade garnet,:— Amalgamated Bricks. 165 for four wickets, beat Working Mens Club, 14i. Harbour Board, IS6 for five, beat Jasco. 168. Prestige Hosiery, lai for five, declared beat Hannahs. 73 and 91 for two. Woolworths, 252 for eight, declared, drew with Taxes Department. 164 for five. n Taubmans, 218, beat Customs Agents, 122.
