Tributes From Bench And Law Society I Tributes to the memory of Mr. E. 1). I Mosley, senior stipendiary magistrate i in Wellington from April, 1935, tilt his retirement in June, 1938, were paid by the Bench and the Wellington District Law Society in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday. Mr. Mosley died recently in Christchurch. The senior stipendiary magistrate, Mr. .1. L. Stout, presided, and had associated with him on the Bench Messrs. J. JI. Luxford, S.M., W. F. Stilwell, S.M., and A. M. Goulding, S.M. “My colleagues and I feel we should make some fitting reference to the death of our former colleague, who has left behind him the memory of an honourble career of public service,” said .Mr. Stout. “It does not need any words from me to remind you of his sterling qualities and human sympathies.” Mr. I’. B. Cooke, K.C.-f president of the Wellington District Law Society, said that when Mr. Mosley came to Wellington it was apparent to those who practised before hint that he possessed the qualities of impartiality and patience which were so vital in the administration of justice. “We had the privilege of appearing before a man ■who possessed a patient, sympathetic and discriminating mind,” said Mr. Cooke. “His kind aud encouraging word has meant much to the young practitioner. His helpful suggestions to those who were without legal aid meant much to them; .and his continued and evident desire to do what was fair as between man and man meant much to all who came in contact with him in this court. His ability as a lawyer and his humanity as a man enabled him worthily to discharge the duties of his high office.” The Court was adjourned till 10.30 a.m. as a mark of respect to Hie memory of Mr. Mosley.
