AIDS TO HEARING

No Restriction On Supply Of Batteries STATEMENT BY MINISTER Reference to the report published yesterday concerning the importation of artificial aids to hearing was made last evening by the Minister of Customs, Mr. Nash. He said that investigations were being pursued to determine whether a suitable battery could be made by local manufacturers, but till the evidence that a battery satisfactory in every degree could be made in the Dominion was available, then imports of full requirements would be provided for. “Those of our people who require aids to hearing may rest assured that there will be a fully continuous supply of batteries," said Mr. Nash. “A licence to import a quantity greater than the corresponding imports for last year has already been issued.!’
