Good Scoring At Miramar H. A. BLACK’S RECORD 68 The perfect weather on Saturday enabled golfers to do some good scoring. The excellent condition of the Miramar course was taken advantage of by 11. A. Black, the club champion, to establish a new record of 6S for the present layout of the course. His card read as follows: Out: 445342464—36 In: 033443334 —32 68 Another Miramar player who found the links to his liking was J. H. Drake, who covered the course in 70, taking 35 each way. His figures were: — Out: 445343444—35 In : 044343-144—30., 70 Wellington Club There was a large entry for the men’s foursome bogey handicap competition for the Ward Cup, played by the Wellington club on Saturday. Some good scoring was seen, three pairs tieing for first place with cards showing 7 up. They were E. D. Blundell and P. W. Bluhdell. E. 0. Hales and G. Magnus, and H. W. Nash and D. A. Robinson, who will play off for the cup later. The bogey handicap competition for the Victoria Cup will be played on -Saturday next. Hutt Club A etableford event on the Hutt links on Saturday was won by G. Al. Frazer, 27- on a count back, from G. S. Park, 32-3-35. Next came D. L. Irwin, 28- and S. C. Taylor. 32-2-34. Another stableford competition was played yesterday, and resulted in a win for L. G. Moss, 28-8-36. Then came E. Shields-Brown, 2S-6-34, and J. Flanagan, 26-6-32. Shandon Ladies’ Midweek Club The best scores returned in the eighth round of the Shandon ladies’ midweek club’s Summer Cup competition were: — Mrs Hurdler. 100-28-72, 3 points; Miss Rockstrow, 106-31-75, 2 points’; Mrs. Leeky, 108-32-76, 1 point. In C division Mrs. Simpson gained three points. KARORI TOURNAMENT R. C. Butters Takes Honours The onc-day tournament organized by the professionals R. C. Butters and B. Stratmorc on the Karori links yesterday proved a pronounced success, no fewer than 103 competitors taking part. The visitors were favourably impressed with the excellence of the course and particularlv with the evenness of the greens. Tiie '36-holee gross medal competition resulted in a tie between R. C. Butters and A. J. Shaw, who both aggregated 144. Butters winning on a count back. B. Stratmore came third with 146. The 36-holes medal handicap resulted : C. G. Lauchlan. C. 11. Fouracres and S. McKay, each 138 net. A draw piaced Lauchlan first and Fouracres second. A stableford competition was won by C. G. Lauehlan, D. Cooper coming next. A bogey event was won by J. D. Davies (IS), who finished 2 up. A. H. Mark (12) wae 1 up. A women’s 36-holes medal handicap competition was won by Miss Price with 145' net.

The next one-daj' tournament organized by Messrs. Butters and Stratmore will be held on the Waiwetu links in. a fortnight’s time ami will probably be a mixed tournament.
