RETURN OF GERMAN COLONIES

Opposition In Britain And U.S.A. OVERWHELMING VOTE By Telegraph.— Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received February 3, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON. February 3. The American and British Institutes of Public. Opinion announce that polls taken in both countries show popular opposition to the return of colonies to Germany. The figures were: In the United States: For return, 17 per cent. Against return, 83 per cent. In Britain: For return, 15 per cent. Against return, 85 per cent. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” foresees a change in the German campaign for colonies in the direction of discontinuing references to the “old colonies” and concentrating on a comprehensive demand for colonies equally as valuable as those held by other European States.
