Dewar Shield Athletic Meeting
WELLINGTON ROWING . REGATTA A special outdoor attraction in Wellington today 'will be the contest for the Dewar Shield, in which teams from the clubs affiliated to the Wellington centre of the Kew Zealand Amateur Athletic Association will take part. All the leading track and field: athletes of the city and suburbs will compete. The programme will open at 2.30 p.m. with a grand parade of athletes for the Kitto Shield. Rowing Regatta. , Crews from Auckland, Tauranga, Wanganui, Aramoho, Wanganui Union, Napier, [Blenheim, and Wellington will compete in the Wellington rowing regatta on Fort (Nicholson today. The first race will start at 1 p.m., and the last at 5 p.m. Cricket. - The Wellington Cricket Association, Wellington (Mercantile Cricket League, Hutt Valley Cricket Association, and Wellington Women’s Cricket Association will continue their grade championship competitions this afternoon. Lawn Tennis. The Wellington Lawn Tennis Association will proceed with its interelub matches on the Miramar courts this afternoon. . Baseball. The Wellington Baseball Association will continue its championship competitions in the various leagues this afternoon. Golf. A men’g fourball bogey handicap for the Ward Cup will be played by the Wellington Golf Club on its links at Heretaunga today. A mixed foursome competition will be played on the Khandon links. A stableford competition will be played on the Hutt course. Yachting. The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club will bold club races, starting off Clyde Quay, for A class keelers, B class keelers, X, H, and N class, and the Idle Along Class, today. The first race will start at 2.40 p.m., and the others nt 10-minute intervals. Races for the Lamiberg Cup for centreboarders and for the Taknpuna class for the Taine Cup, will be held by the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club. Bowling. The annual match for the ‘‘Friendly Bowl,” between the Christchurch Bowling Club and the Wellington Bowling Club, will be held in Wellington today. A Jerusalem Cup match between Khandallah and Johnsonville will be played this afternoon.
