DAVIS CUP CONTEST

New Zealand Enters Team N. V. EDWARDS INCLUDED New Zealand will be represented in tlie Davis Cup contest tins year. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has decided to enter a challenge for Hie cup in the European zone. The team will consist of C. E. Malfroy, D. C, Coombe, and N. V. Edwards. Malfroy lias been appointed captain and Coombe will act as manager. Malfroy and Coombe are in England, and Edwards will leave New Zealand at the end of February or early in March. The selection of the singles team will depend on trial matches to be played in England after Edwards arrives. The doubles team will be selected by the captain. Challenges for the Davis Cup will close on January 31 and the draw will be made immedialel.v afterward by the champion nation, the United States Tennis Association. The firsl round is to Ik* completed on or before May 9. Edwards will probably compete at the Wimbledon tournament, which begins on J une 26.
