January Realizations In Wellington TOTAL OF £393,418 A Good Clearance The wool cheque lor the second Wellington sale of this season, held on January 9, totalled £393,418, as compared with £404,506 foi the corresponding sales of last year and £-746,007 for that of January, 1937. The official returns for last mouth’s sale compiled by the Wellington Wool Brokers’ Association, are as follows :—’

At the January sale last year 28,377 bales were offered, of which 24,709 bales wereasold, the nef weight of the wool sold being 8,989,6601 b. The total gross proceeds were £404,536, the average price a bale being £l6/7/5 and the average price a lb., 10.8 d. At the January sale in 1937, a total of 30,724 bales was offered, of which 30,699 bales were sold and 25 bales passed in. The total gross proceeds were £746,007, an average of £24/6/- a bale, or 16.313 d. a lb The two sales held in Wellington so fnr this season have realized a total of £742,941, compared with £688,163 for the December-January sales of last season, £1,396,670 for those of 1936-37, £725,501 for 1935-36 and £33,601 Tor 1934-35.
