Sir Hubert Ostler, who is to resume bis judicial duties on the Supreme Court Bench after a year’s leave of absence because of ill-health, will preside over the quarter session of the Supreme Court which will open in Palmerston North next Wednesday. 'The Hon. Mr. Justice Reed is visiting Auckland.

Mr. D. J. McGowan attended the meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board last night, for the first time following a six months’ illness. Mr. L. J. Schmitt, .general manager of the Department of Tourist and Publicity, returned to Wellington yesterday from the .South Island. Mr. J. Carpenter, Karori, will leave Wellington by the Tuinui for London next Wednesday. He is going to England to visit his father. Mr. R. Kinnaird, Alexandra, Central Otago, is visiting Wellington to attend a meeting of the Fruitgrowers’ Federation. 1 Tho Rev. D. N. MaeDiarmld, director of missions of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, will return by the Mariposa, arriving at Auckland on February 6. Mr. and Mrs. MaeDiarmld have been abroad for several months, visiting the missions of the Church in Canton and in Punjab, and attending the world missionary conference held near Madras in December.
