DUTY ON SOUVENIRS
Boy Scouts’ Difficulty Dominion Special Service. , PALMERSTON N., January 25. The workings of tlie New Zealand Customs officials were iu marked contrast to those, of the Australian officials, who did not even question the boys on their arrival in Sydney, said Commissioner’ L. G. Callis. Palmerston North, today. Mr. Callis was in charge of the Palmerston North party of Boy Scouts who visited Australia recently, and he spid the party arrived back with articles which were valued at £33, and on these no'less than £7 had to be paid in duty. Not expecting this the boys had in most eases exhausted their pocket money and no little difficulty was experienced in “raising the wind."
