SWIMMING GRANT

To Be Used For Transport Of Learners A grant of approximately the same amount as last year will be available for swimming instruction in schools in the Wellington Education Board's district. Advice to this effect was received at yesterday’s meeting of the board. In reply to Mr. C. H. Nicholls, the secretary, Mr. W. I. DCavoll, said that it had been agreed by the board that last year’s grant should be made available to meet the cost of carriage of nonswimmers to places of instruction and possibly the present grant would be expended in the same way. I The secretary of the Wellington (Swimming Centre, Mr. N. N. Oldeishaw 7 , [had informed him that the services of ; club instructors would be available, said iMr. Deavoll, and assistance had also • been promised from the Y.M.C.A. The iboard’s own instructors from the Teach,ers’ Training College would be avail'able during the hot month of February while the ordinary curriculum was suspended. The board agreed that this year’s grant be expended on the same lines 'as the previous one.
