Blandford had a remarkable career at the stud. He first came into the picture in 1929. when Tetratema was leading sire. In that season Blandford was second. with 15 winners of 30 races worth £40,246/10/-. In the following season lie dropped back to thirteenth place on the winning sires’ list, and in his next season (19/51) he was not among the first 23 'sires on the list. In 1932 (when Gainsborough was at the head of the list) he had winners of 21 races worth £23.080. In 1931, Blandford’s stock won 234 races worth only £7614. In .1933, Gainsborough was again leading, sire, and Blandford was well up on flip list with 33 winners of 38 races worth £28,206. Beat Long Standing Record. In 1934 he bent the record of Stockwell, which had stood for nearly 70 years. In that season he had 26 winners of 57i races valued at £75,707. fu 1935 he was again at the head of the list with 13 winners of 221 races valued at £57.538. His principal winners in those two seasons were ryibea/en Barham. Badruddin, Campanula, Primero, Windsor Lad, Zelina, Ankaret, Haritui (a sister to Trigo, Primero, Athfof-d. and Harinero, now at the Sledmore stud. N.S.W.). In 1936 Blandford was twenty-first on the list with 19 winners of 26 races worth £8487. Fairway was that year leading sire, with Blenheim (son of Blandford) ninth. Blandford had no important winners in that season. Success Tn France. Blandforfi’s stock also did well in France. Leading sire in France In 1934 was Asterus. Blandford was second, and Pharos third. tn 1935 Blandford wns leading sire with seven winners, of 22 races worth 1.446,148 francs. That season he had no classic winners, but his daughter. Mistress Ford, won six two-year-old events without being beaten. .She won from five furlongs to a mile. Pharos was second. Fiterari (by Sardanapale) third. Aethelstan (by Teddy) fourth, and Asterus fifth. In 1936 Massine headed the sires’ list in France, with Pharos second. Blandford was seventh, with seven winners of 12 races worth 679.845 francs.
