J. DIXON TAKES EIGHT WICKETS FOR 26

Good bowling performances' were given in all grade matches under- the control of the Wellington Women's Cricket Association on Saturday. On Prince of Wales Park, where the senior matches were played, a gusty northerly wind made conditions difficult for the bowlers.

L. Harris, who retired at 58, made the highest ecore of the day in Technical Old Girls’ match against Wellington. In the other senior match, College Old Girls v. Y.W.C.A;, J. Stenberg produced thc_best all-round performance. She made 45 not out, and took four wickets for 32 runs. W. Tasker did well for Y.W.C.A., making 37 runs and capturing four wickets for 44. In a junior grade match J. Dixon took eight wickets for 26 runs for Lever Bros, against College Old Girls. This was the greatest number of -wickets taken. For Onslow, D. Hill took seven wickets for 11 runs against Technical Old Girls, and J. Silk took six for 34 for Technical. Results: — SENIOR. C.O.G. v. Y.W.C.A. College Old Girls, 120, beat Y.W.C.A., 86 Y.W.C.A. won the toss and put Old Girls in to bat. Though they made runs quickly, Old Girls’ wickets fell cheaply at first, and it was the tail-enders who really made the score. J, Stenberg was the outstanding batsman, attacking the bowling and taking every rub possible. She also bowled well against the wind. W. Tasker was the mainstay of the Y W.CjA. team both on-attack and defence. She bowled consistently to take four wickets, and hit up a solid 37 runs.
