Guests Of Wellington Trades Council
The delegation of Tasmanian Parliamentarians which is visiting New Zealand to conduct an inquiry into Ibe financial and economic effects of the Govermeut’s policy was entertained on Thursday by the Wellington Trades Council, when upward of 60 delegates attended. The delegation consists of Mr. Edmund Dwyer-Gray. Treasurer of Tasmania, Mr. J. McDonald. M.L.C.. Honorary Minister, and Mr. J. R. Quinn private secretary to Mr. DwyerGray. , Both Mr. Dwyer-Gray anti Mr. .McDonald gave an outline of what had been accomplished by the Labour Government in Tasmania. They pointed oul that though the Government represented two-thirds of the people of Tasmania, there were some instances where legislative measures unanimously passed by the House of Representatives had been rejected by the Legislative Council, which made it impossible for the Government to carry on. It was tlie intention of the Government to take a plebiscite vote oa I lie question of abolishing lhe Legislative Council, Tlie Government hail-given complete preference to trade unionists.
