WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Interest In Coming Auckland Races Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, January 11. The visit of the four 'Sydney IS-footers to Auckland in February is causing considerable interest throughout the Dominion and Australia, and now that the world 16ft. championship will be held on the Waitemata, in addition to other races, yachtsmen from Queensland are also expected to take part in the contest. It was recently announced that I browner of Taree, holder of the trophy, had agreed to the race'being held in Auckland. Since then arrangements have -been made for the Queensland -boat to make the trip, and. according to a cable message received from Brisbane yesterday by Mr. G. M. Deunes, chairman of the inter-Dominiou Yacht Racing Committee, there is every indication of at least one Queensland boat coming to Auckland. The message reads: “Advise dates sailing carnival, also sailing dates return steamer to Sydney.” It was from Norman Wright, Bulimba, Brisbane. -Mr. Demies stated that Mr. Wright was builder of Taree. and also builder and owner of Joyce IV. The latter vessel would, represent Queensland in the inter-State championship race for ISfooters in Sidney this month, and it would appear that Mr. Wright intended bringing Joyce IV to Auckland. According to present arrangements it was proposed to hold the races at’Auckland for visiting and local boats on February IG, IS and 19. A meeting of the Auckland committee controlling the races will be held tomorrow evening io draw up the programme, and. if possible, make final arrangements for carrying out the various events.
