Variations in rainfall possible in districts only a comparatively short distance apart are indicated by reports on last year's weather, based on observations at the Fairlight observatory, Castor. Bay, Auckland. The total rainfall for the year at Castor Bay was 53.59111., 9Jin. less than that regis tered at. Albert Park. February, usually a dry month, was wet last- year, with S.94in. at Castor Bay, the fall there being 2.5 in. below Auckland's total for the same month. The total for July was 12.35 in., slightly higher than that registered in the city.
