OFFICERS AT WORK
Coming Inauguration Of Social Security Act
THE MEDICAL BENEFITS
The executive officers of Hie Social Security Department, appointed last year, were already at work ami woiud i>e busy till the scheme was launched, said Hie Prime Minister. Mr. Savage, in a statement, yesterday. There was a great deal of “spade work” to be done before Hie Government's scheme could be launched on April 1, tie said. Tlie age benefits under the scheme should not cause much difficulty, Mr. Savage said, because Ihe Pensions Department already had that aspect undet control, but a. great deal of work would have to be done to establish the medical side of the scheme. The assistance of the medical profession would be of great help and he believed they would gel it. . , Right from the start lie had aimed at a scheme that would enable the individual to obtain the services of ills own doctor, lie did not want to see anyone forced to go to a doctor who did not have the icontidence of the patient, and lie did not want people to have to line up to receive medical services.
