ASSISTIN G INDUSTRY IN DOMINION
Mr. Savage On The Signs
ADDITIONAL STAFF FOR MANUFACTURERS
Advertisements in llie Press by New Zealand manufacturers requiring additional stall' were commented on in an interview last evening by Hie I’riine Minister, Mr. Savage, who said this was tlie first time that a genuine effort had been made in Hie Dominion to promote local industry. “That is one of Hie best indications, and it is obviously due to our policy,” the Prime Minister said. “We are go-, iug on in earnest, to build industry in New Zealand. .Manufacturers have some idea what they can expect the Government Io do in tlie way of assisting industry, and they are accepting our word that it is not a temporary tiling. It. is a genuine attempt to build industry here —Hie first time that a genuine effort lias been made in New Zealand to promote local industry. And we are not. going to stop at small tilings to make a success of it."
Mr. Savage said that, on this issue tlie Government was not only appealing to employers and employees engaged i|> industry, but was also appealing to the people of tlie country, who were the buyers of the products, to support the products of their own country and their own industry. That was patriotism.
