FAREWELL TO OFFICER

Presentation To Major A. J. Edney, R.E.

Major A. J. Edney, R.E., chief engineer for New Zealand, who is leaving for England early in the New Year, was bade farewell by Territorials and Staff engineers of the Central Military District, on behalf of the officers of the New Zealand Engineer Corps, in the United Services Club. Wellington, on Thursday night. On behalf of the officers of the New Zealand Corps, Major C. 11. Beach, officer commanding the 2nd Field Company, N.Z.E- said Major Edney had contributed greatly to the organization of the corps in New Zealand. The high degree of efficiency predominant was undoubtedly due to his efforts and the continuous interest he had always shown in the corps both in the course of his military duties and privately Major Beach wished Major and Mrs. Edney bon voyage and further success in England, and presented Major Edney with a handsome crystal and chromium writing set. Major Edney thanked the officers for their gift and said thftt/it would always remind him of his work in New Zealand with the engineers and be an inspiration to him in bis future work. Be would always remember his pleasant and interesting association with them.
