AIR RAID PRECAUTION CLASSES

The co-operation of the Wellington Fire Board in the air raid precaution instruction class.s being undertaken bj the Defelice Department was approved by the board at its meeting yesterday. in a circular letter to local bodies and other organization- the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, said that rhe subject of the Dominion's liability to air attacks had been under consid eratiou by a special Government committee and a tentative scheme had been drawn up for the dissemination of information. The basis of the scheme w the creation of classes to receive instruction in anti-gas training, to beaconducted by the Army Department. The classes would begin in the four main centres.
The largest class which one instructor could handle efficiently was 20. This number would therefore be allotted in the following proportions:—Six police officers, six municipal staff officers (for decontamination ;md repair duties 1 four first aid officers and four tire bri gadesmen. The co-operation of the board was requested. Superintendent A. Woolley said it had been arranged that four officers should attend the classes. Two preliminary ones bad already been held trod the, actual syllabus would be entered upon early in the New Vent Members of the board commented that the idea of the classes was an excellent one.
