N.Z. Stocks Cleared In London
CHILLED BEEF FIRMER
Lamb market: Stocks of New Zealand old season’s practically exhausted. Australian weaker owing to heavy arrivals and slow trade. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, trade quiet and prices where changed slightly lower. Beef market: Frozen beef meeting with good demand. Chilled beef, firmer this week owing to lighter supplies. N.Z. porker pigs: Prices firmer. N.Z. Baeouer pigs: Nominal, owing to very few available. Boneless bobby veal : Trade still slow.
The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its Loudon office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered_ to Smithfield market. Prices lor the previous week are shown in parentheses:— N.Z. sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 481 b. and under, -I’jd. (4 7-Bd.) ; 491 b. to 561 b„ 4 l-Bd. (same) ; 571 b. to 641 b., 4 l-Bd.’ (same) ; 651 b. to 721 b., 4 l-Bd. (same) ; ewes, _4Blb. and under, 3d. (same); 491 b. to 561ffi, 2jd. (same) ; 571 b. to 641 b., 21d. (2 5-Bd.) ; 651 b. to 721 b., 2 3-Sd. (same). N.Z. Jambs: Not quoted.

Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following report dated December 15 from their London agents:—Compared with last week’s quotations, wethers, under 48 lb., l-Bd. a lb. lower; ewes, 561 b. to 641 b., l-Bd. a lb. lower; others unchanged. The market is quiet with a general downward tendency for lambs. Henry S. Fitter and Sons Ltd. have received the following cabled report from their London .office: —Lambs: The market is dull, with a downward tendency. Wethers: Trade is slow. Ewes: The market is quiet and unchanged. Chilled beef: Trade is slow. Pork: Smaller supplies have caused prices to harden. Trade generally is quiet.
