Corps Of Signals’ Final Parade For Year
SECTION TRANSFERS AND POSTINGS (By Liaison.) The I'mal parade of the Wellington Corps of Signals for 1038 was held at. the Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, on Tuesday. The parade was under Hie command of Captain G. L. Agar, officer commanding the unit, 'rhe attendance was 100. which is approximately 00 per cent, of peace establishment. For the purpose of greater individual training the unit is divided into seven sections, wireless, cable transport, advanced visual, and Nos. 1, ~ and 3 recruit sections. After company inspection by Captain Agar and Lieut. L. Marshall, each section carried out fifteen minutes of infantry training under the senior N.C.O.’s. 'This was followed by signal training under the section commanders. The wireless section, under SecondLieutenunt W. if. Sehdroski and Sergeant Iloa.tz, carried out a practice on W/T communication using No. 1 wireless sets, after which instruction was given in tlie identification of faults in No. 1 sets and how to recognize and remedy them. Sergeant McNab gave a lecture to the cable section on the duties attached to the laying and reeling in of cable. The lecture was followed by instruction' in methods of making and dismantling pole crossings.
In the absence of vehicles, Sergeant Hodgson, in charge of transport section, devoted their time to semaphore visual training. The advanced visual section under Lieutenant J. O. .Mclntosh and SecondLieutenant G. Holms received instruction in sighting of lamps and station discipline. Morse flag and lamp practice under service conditions concluded with a lecture on message procedure.
No. I recruit, under Seeond-1 Jeutemiut H. Goldlinch and Sergeant; Murphy, carried out., a morse Hag test. No. 2 recruit, under Second-Lieu tenant 14. W. Wilkinson and Sergeant Peoples received instruction in morse Hag drill, morse code letters and Hag position, and concluded with a lecture on the D 111 telephone. No. 3 recruit section, under See-ond-Lieiitcimnt I). McFarlane and Corporal Bedford, received instruct ion ill morse Hag drill, morse characters with Hag, and recognition of morse characters from the D 11l telephone. The. next parade will be held on January 17, 11)30. The annual camp is to be Held at Waiouru from February 25 to March .11. The first week is to consist of special pre-camp training and tlie second week of more advanced training and signal schemes.
Section transfers are as follows:—Corporal Bedford from advanced training to N.G.O. in charge No. 11l Recruit Section ; Signaller Lock from No. 1 Recruit Section to Advanced Training Section; Signaller Tolley from Advanced Training Section to orderly room. Tlie following new recruits have been posted to sections:—Sigmiller E. It. .Muston. No. 3 Recruit Section; Signaller F. I*. Hunt. No. I Recruit. Section: Signaller A. Schdroski, No; 2 Recruit Section: Signaller M. V. Hamlin. No. 3 Recruit Section.
