MUSICAL RECIPROCITY

Twelve months ago today the Royal Wellington Choral Union paid an official visit to Auckland, where Handel’s masterpiece “The Messiah” was given in collaboration with the Auckland Choral Society under the direction of Mr. Stanley Oliver. This was in pursuance of the policy of reciprocity in choral music inaugurated by the Royal Wellington Choral Union in‘l92l. This evening Wellington will be privileged to hear “The Messiah’’ bv the two societies at the Town Hall. The Auckland Choral Society is returning Wellington’s visit, and by this means a notable rendering of this great oratorio bv the huge choir and orchestra of 450 can be expected. This performance will be under the baton of Mr. Colin Muston, the Auckland conductor. The principals are the best available, and altogether this year’s Christmas oratorio should prove a notable event.
