A special guest of honour will be Mrs. Richard Bradley, winner of “The Dominion” Grand Oi>era Contest at the recent. Wellington Competitions, who has consented to sing at the reception.

Address By Mrs. Knox Gilmer Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Liberal candidate, will address the electors of Wellington North at S,t. Francis Hall, Hill Street, on Wednesday next, at 8 p.m. Short-skirted cocktail frocks are very new and very smart, and ideal for the tea dances which are very popular just now. One of fine black jersey silk is very simple except for a dashing sash of green, red, white and black stripes. It has a crossover front and short split sleeves. Another very smart little frock is of black crepe with the upper part of the bodice in fine black lace in deep yoke effect, which extends over the top of the long, tight sleeves. The Sonja Henio skirt —short and circular —has a narrow inset of black lace just above the hemline. The .high neck is finished with double narrow bindings of clover and green, which tie at the throat. Another charming frock is also of black crepe, always so smart. The deep yoke almost to the waist at the back and sloping up to the neck in front, either side of a crepe panel is of black net, striped witli inch-wide strappings of crepe in tuck effect. The sleeves are of the strapped net. A row of lovely brilliant buttons runs up the centre panel from waist to neck, which is finished with a narrow tie collar. Agnes Samson, Lambton Quay. —Advt.
