Criticism Of Remarks By Mr. H. S. S. Kyle, M.P.*

Strong criticism of recent comments bj' Mr. H. S. S. Kyle, in the House of Representatives concerning the Government’s expenditure on research on stock diseases was voiced at a meeting of the Waikato Sub-Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union today.

Mr. C. J. Pierce said: "In view of the fact that we have pressed for this for so long, and that we are now within measurable distance of gaining our objective we should make a strong protest against such remarks.” Mr. F. C. Roberts suggested that the Minister of Agriculture and the department deserved the thanks of farmers for the organised attack set up against stock diseases. The following motion was passed: As opposed to criticism agalpst the expenditure of money for research into facial eczema and other stock diseases we appreciate the effort being made by the Department of Agriculture to combat this scourge by taking definite steps to set up a research station and organisation In the Waikato. i
