Shown To Duke Of Kent During his tour of social service centres in Kent, the Duke of Kent was shown a china jug which his mother, Queen Marry, presented at the children's party at Kingston Vale when she was the 13-year-old Princess May of Teek. and was staying with her mother, the Duchess of Teek, at White Lodge. Richmond. The recipient was Mrs. Allday, who, with her husband, Mr. Richard Allday, now occupies one of 32 Hats for old people art Tunbridge Wells. The tlats have Iteen built at a cost of £10,090 by the Tunbridge Wells Council of Service, the money being raised by gifts and loans. The Duke declared the flats open and afterward drove to the Hilbert Recreation Ground, where the Council of Service has been providing unemployed men with work. The 26 acres of land available were given to the borough by the deputy-mayor, Councillor E. J. Strange, and the Council of Service raised £l5OO by public subscription for wages.
Schoolchildren were playing on the completed section and men were work ing on another part when the Duke made his visit
