Wellington.—Fine and sunny, almost .calm in the morning, but with a moderate southerly breeze in the afternoon. The temiperature was cool. Minimum temperature on Wednesday night, 3-1.7 degrees; maximum on Thursday, 52.2 degrees. At 3 p.m. the temperature was 49.6 degrees, and the barometer reading 29.873 inches. Palmerston North.— Beautifully fine alter a hard frost. There was a light southerly breeze in the afternoon. Wanganui.—Fine and sunny, with a light southerly breeze. Sea smooth. Barometer reading 29.90 inches, rising slightly. , ... New Plymouth.—A sunny day with a light breeze and milder conditions. Ibe barometer at 5 p.m. read 29.80 inches. Waipukurau.—Fine day with passing clouds. Tlie maximum temperature was 54 degrees. .
