Aged Man, Jack Oakie's Namesake, In Jail
T>Y a coincidence, as Jack Oakle was acting in scenes for RKO Radio’s “The Affairs of Annabel” outside of flie Lincoln Heights jail in Los Angeles, an old man with the same name was being charged inside for drunken driving. Several members of the cast had gone into the court while the location §hot was being set up and thought it was a joke when the clerk of the court called the name ‘Jack Oakie.” Questioned by the judge, the man said his true name was Jack Oakle. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 00 days. The screen comedian’s true name is Lewis D. Offleld.
