Social Afternoon At Girls' College
A successful social afternoon was recently arranged by the Wellington East Girls’ College Indies' auxiliary lo enable parents and friends of girls at flic college to meet Miss Isaac. Hie principal. The college assembly half was used for the occasion, and a large attendance testified to parental interest.
Miss Isaac welcomed the visitors, and gave a very interesting address on co-education, telling two very charming stories. Mrs. Frain sang and a pleasing feature of the afternoon was the singing of girls of forms 3A under the capable direction of Miss Ellis. A competition was won by Mrs. Strange and a dainty home-made afternoon tea was served by the committee.
Hospital Staff Dance
The social committee of the Palmerston North hospital stuff arranged it .successful dance recently. Tlie Orient Hall, Palmerston North, was gaily decorated for the occasion, and Mr. .1. A. Nash, chairman of tlie hospital board, formally opened the dance.
Good music and an excellent floor added to the dancers’ enjoyment, and tlie programme was interspersed with items by local artists.
Opportunity was also taken lo make a presentation to Mrs. Martin, who is leaving tlie district after many years of service to the hospital board. An appetising supper was served tutor in (tic evening.
