Oil And Colour Merchants' Annual Dance In decorating the St. Francis Hall, Hill Street, for the annual dance of ihe Wellington Oil and Colour Merchants’ Association, last night, the committee seems to have striven for, and achieved, an effect of brilliant colour. Streamers of every imaginable hue formed a canopy from the centre of the ceiling to the walls. Huge bunches of gaily-coloured balloons were clustered about the hall, and on each side of the stage were two quartered shields in yellow and orange, edged with gold, bearing the insignia of the as-sociation. In one corner of the hall chairs had been arranged for the official party, which included leading representatives of the various colour houses in Wellington. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. N. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eastwood, Mr. and Mrs. C. Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. J. Pilkington, Mr. and Mrs. S. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs.’ W. H. Firth, Mr. and Mrs. H. Sunderland. Mr. and Mrs. G. Guise, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. McKay, Mr. and Mrs. Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Lamberg, Mr. Briton Smith, and Mr. Percy Smith. There was a large crowd present, and a tuneful orchestra contributed to the general atmosphere of enjoyment. Mr. Geoffrey Turner was an efficient M.C. Downstairs an excellent supper was served from long tables attractively decorated with old-world baskets of birch and deep red, artificial roses. The tall handles were tied with crimson ribbons that trailed across the tables. The committee in charge of the arrangements for the dance consisted of Misses Alison McNamara, Rita Lust, Iris Westrupp, Winnie McTigue, Messrs. J. Fitzgerald, Delaney, 11. Leighton, B. Murdoch, Roy Wells, K. Sidford, 11. Wilson, S. Campbell. B. Smith.
