London, August 10. The following mean closing rates on foreign exchanges were current to-day compared with those ruling on August 9: —

Gold. &7/2/G an ounce, fine. Silver.—Spot, 19 0-16 d. an ounce; forward, 19 7-16(1. Gold to the value of £2,519,000 sold today at £7/2/6 an ounce.

On New Zealand Currency Basis

Quill Morris Dividend

At a meeting of directors of Quill, Morris (1036), Ltd., wine and spirit merchants, Christchurch, held yesterday, an interim dividend at the rate of 5 per cent. |>er annum was declared in respect nf the half-year ended .July 31, 1938. The dividend will be payable at the end of this month.
