APPEAL TO WORK FOR PEACE
Broadcast By Palestine Commander-In-Chief Jerusalem, August 8. The Commander-in-Cliief in Palestine, Sir Harold McMichael, in a brief broadcast to-day, appealed to all sections of the population to work for’ peace. “Those practising violence while pressing their demands do the worst possible service to their cause,” he said, "and only prove to the world that they are unfit to govern, while making it incumbent on the Government not to give way.” Sir Harold did not refer to the secret visit of the Colonial Secretary, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, to Palestine.
A British official wireless message received yesterday states that a telegram from the High Commissioner for Palestine to the Colofflal Office, dated August 8, reports that a Jew was shot and dangerously wounded on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
In Tiberias, following the explosion of a bomb in the Arab market, which injured nine Arabs, one seriously, as well as stone-throwing in which a Jew was slightly hurt, a 10 p.m. curfew was Imposed in the old part of the town;
