PERJURY CHARGE

Development In Sydney

Conspiracy Case

(Received July 7, 8.25 p.in.)

Sydney, July 7.

During the further hearing to-day of the conspiracy ease against Eric Campbell, former leader of the New Guard, Brigadier-General Lloyd and R. A. Duesbury, counsel for the Crown, Mr. Shand, told the magistrate that a charge of perjury had been preferred against Campbell and Duesbury arising out of certain replies they gave in the Equity Court proceedings on March 15 which led to the present conspiracy proceedings. Both men were then formally charged with perjury. Mr. Shand added that evidence being given in the conspiracy proceedings would also be evidence relating to the charge of perjury.
