NINE KILLED IN FIRE TRAGEDY
Demonstration Becomes Reality
(Received July 8, 1.30 a.m.)
Lisbon, July 7
Nine people were killed and 13 seriously injured—mostly boys aged between 12 and 18—during a tire brigade demonstration to-day. Firemen oversoaked a four-storied building with petrol and the Hames became uncontrollable.
Firemen and their sons installed in the building as “tenants” for the demonstration, leapt from the windows or were burnt to death under the eyes of thousands.
