Wellington Nurse To Leave For Columbia A cherished ambition will be realised shortly by a young Wellington nurse, Miss Ruth McLeod, when she leaves from Auckland by the Remuera on July 2 for Panama en route to the mission fields of Colombia. Miss AlcLeod, who Is going out under the auspices of the 'World-Wide Evangelisation Crusade, is the daughter, of Airs, and the late Air. Al. A. AlcLeod, of Clyde Street, Island Bay. In 1934 Aliss AlcLeod and her fiance, Air. C. S. Jones, formerly of Auckland, read a book on the life of C. T. Studd, famous English cricketer and founder of the World-Wide Evangelisation Crusade. Both decided to join in the work Of the crusade. Air. Jones, who is a graduate of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, left the Dominion at the end of 1935, and,is now at Bogota, capital of Colombia. After her arrival in'Bogota, Miss AlcLeod’s marriage to Mr. Jones will take place and she will accompany her husband to Aledelin, a remote inland centre, where he has- recently established the Maranatba Orphanage.

Social At Palmerston North

Au enjoyable dance and social was held at Palmerston North recently at the Cosmopolitan Club’s Hull, A. large number of memliers, witli their wives and friends, were present. The arrangements were in the hands of Air. R. Ramsay, assisted by a capable committee. Dancing was ■ interspersed with songs null novelty items, and for those who did not dance a euchre tournament was arranged.

The president, Mr. E. K. Fleming, extended a warm welcome to all those present, and said that lie hoped Hie club would have oilier socials later in the season.

The opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Mr. .At. A. Moody, president of the club for the past nine years, as an acknowledgment of his sterling services. The presentation was made by Mr. F. Pycroft, past president and trustee, and at its conclusion the assembly sang "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” The euchre tournament was won by Mr. Bonner, and prizes for various novelties were won by Mrs. B. Znlouni, Mrs. Jacques'. Miss Simpson. Mrs. Marshall Jones, and Mr. B. Robinson.

Hunterville W.D.F.U

Mrs. Weston presided over a good attendance at the May meeting of the Ilunlerville Women's Division of Hie Farmers’ Union. It was decided to send a donation to the Hawke's Bay Hood relief fund. Mr. Ironmonger delighted those present with a very Interesting talk on his trip abroad. A presentation was made to Mrs. Hammond and Mrs. Scotl-Maiiiitlell in recognition of their long services as otlicers of the division. Tfie competition for shortbread was won by Mrs. Roper. Mrs. Morrison was second. The hostesses, Mrs. A. McAlley. Mrs. S. McAlley, Miss I. McAlley and Miss Walker, served afternoon .tea.
