Year Of Progress Recorded A year of steady progress during which the finances and membership alike hare benefited, is recorded in the report of the Wellington Caledonian Society, to be presented at the annual meeting to-night. Numerically, the report stated, the society was in a etrong position : 37 new members joined- during the year, making a total membership of 182—71 women, S 3 men. and 28 juveniles. Contests in national dancing for the Beenie Ballantyne Memorial Cup, the Graham-Moffatt Cup, and the McDonald Cup were worn respectively' by Merle McClymont, Leah Kerr, and Edna Whitelaw (equal), and Peggy McKinnon, The A grade piping contest for the Nimmo ■ Cup was won by Piper R. Currie, the liarrap Cup for B grade players went to Piper E. McGuire, and the Stewart Medal was won by Piper N. Tarrant. The directors congratulated the pipe band on its showing at the centre contest at Masterton, and its performance in coming third in tile B grade championship lit the Dominion contest at Palmerston North. With its new uniforms and drums, provided at a cost of £534. the l and was one of the best equipped in New Zealand. The report of the pipe band stated that the members had been keener, and that bad had its reflection in increased efficiency. The band was at present full strength, and for the first time for many years; had a wailing list.
